Lobby Day
Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg
Tuesday, June 3, 8:15am-1:00pm
Would you like legislation passed that increases energy
efficiency? That increases the use of renewable energy? Are you
worried that the utility and coal mining industries are pushing
the Pennsylvania General Assembly to oppose such important legislation?
Then register
for the June 3rd lobby day, sponsored by the Sierra Club Pennsylvania
Chapter. Your voice is needed to push for legislation that will
promote energy conservation and alternatives to fossil fuels. Everyone,
from novices to experienced lobbyists, is encouraged to come.
Complete the registration
form and share the lobby
day event flyer with others. Please send me your completed registration
form as soon as possible so we can work with you to set up appointments
with your senator and representative.
There are key senators that need to be targeted in each Sierra
Club Group, and these are listed below. Whether or not your senator
is a target senator, it is important for them to hear from their
constituents. Let’s fill the capitol halls with a Sierra Club
presence!
SPG: Pileggi, Erickson, Rafferty, Greenleaf, Fumo,
Hughes, Kitchen, Washington, Williams
ALG: Pippy, Orie, Costa, Fontana, Kasunic
BUC: Tomlinson, McIlhinney
LHV: Wonderling, Browne, Buscola
GVP: Vance, Waugh
NEA.: Mellow, Musto
LKE: Earll
OTZ: Gordner
Reimbursement for lunch and travel costs is available. We are working
to arrange overnight hospitality for those who would like to arrive
the day before; please let us know if you would be interested. For
those who live in the Harrisburg area, we are looking for people
to host out-of-town members. This is a great way to help out, even
if you can’t attend the lobby day itself!
Lobby day activities will include a briefing session on the energy
issues we are working on and how to effectively lobby. This will
be followed by appointments with legislators from your district.
The day will end with an optional lunch and debriefing session to
discuss lobbying experiences and your legislators’ opinions
on our positions.
If you are unable to attend the morning briefing session, there
will be a briefing session done via conference call the day before,
June 2nd, from 7pm-8pm. It’s the same great information both
days, so choose the one most convenient for you!
